We know that getting a tattoo can be daunting, whether it’s your first one or your fifteenth. We want your experience with us to be as easy and relaxed as possible, so we have put together some frequently asked questions that may answer some questions you have on your mind.

We are located in Hughsdale, Melbourne. Right opposite the train station

HOW MUCH IS A TATTOO?
Tattoos range in price depending on the size and amount of detail your design requires. We charge an hourly rate of $150 - $240 depending on the artist you have selected. If your tattoo is under the hourly rate the artist will charge you accordingly. Our shop minimum price for any tattoo starts from $150. 

I’M NOT 18 YET BUT MY MUM SAID IT’S OK. WILL YOU TATTOO ME IF SHE GIVES CONSENT?   
Nope, sorry. We can only tattoo you if you're 18 or over. Full stop. End of. We will however tattoo your mum while you watch.

WILL MY TATTOO HURT? 
Tattoos are not pain free, and some parts of the body are slightly more uncomfortable then others. You will feel a slight a scratching and sunburn feeling during and immediately after your tattoo. First timers often find the experience less painful than they expected. We sell a range of numbing creams in-store so if your having a long session or simply would rather feel less pain then that is a great option for you. 

HOW DO I MAKE A BOOKING?
We have multiple ways that you can get in contact with us to make a booking either through Email, Facebook, Instagram, our website, walk in or Telephone. All of our contact information is on our Contact page. We will need to know where you’d like your new tattoo, roughly what size you’d like it and also some images for reference so we can gauge roughly how long it will take, and we can put you with the suitable artist for your designs. If your are after a complex tattoo, we will recommend a free consultation with one of our artists prior to your tattoo commencing. 

WILL I NEED A DEPOSIT FOR MY TATTOO APPOINTMENT?
At Primal Ink we require a deposit for ALL tattoo bookings. Our artist’s are very busy, with people making bookings weeks in advance to see them. Their time is precious; We have this system in place so people take their appointment seriously and respect that our artists have set aside this time specifically for them. 
The deposit amount will be $50 for appointments up to 4 hours long, and $100 for appointments longer than 4 hours. 
The deposit amount will be deducted off the final cost of your tattoo. Deposits will be taken over the phone unless you book your appointment in-store.

IF I WANT TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT WILL I GET MY DEPOSIT BACK?
You must contact us 48 hours (2 days) before your appointment should you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment. All cancelations and rescheduled appointments made with less than 48 hours (2 days) notice will mean you loose your deposit.
Of course, if you give us over 48 hours (2 days) notice we will happily refund your deposit for you.

MY TATTOO IS SCABBING, IS THAT NORMAL?
Scabbing on a fresh tattoo is completely normal. You can experience a thin layer of peeling to a thick layer of scabbing all depending on how much ink was put into your tattoo. Please make sure you are taking care of your new tattoo correctly to avoid an infection to the area. We have plenty of after-care products in-store available to purchase and our team will give you all the advice you need, so don’t fret, we are here for you.
